Secretary of the Defence Force (Level 3 - Gold) Commendation Badge

Defence introduced a commendation scheme to recognise outstanding or exceptional achievement, or specific acts of bravery, by Defence personnel. These achievements are often not suitably recognised by the Australian honours and awards system.

The Secretary of the Defence Force (Level 3 - Gold) Commendation Badge is awarded for superior achievement or devotion in the application of skills, judgement or dedication to duty. Commendations may be made to individuals or groups.

These badges are made of die-struck solid brass, real gold plating and antique finish, with clutch (butterfly) pin fittings.
