The Timor-Leste Solidarity Medal (TLSM) is a foreign award presented by the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in recognition of the men and women who contributed to stability and peace operations in Timor-Leste.

Updated Eligibility (2026)
Under the expanded eligibility criteria announced in April 2026, the medal is now available to a broader group of Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel, veterans, and Australian Federal Police (AFP) members.

Personnel who have completed a minimum of 30 days service on mandated missions in Timor-Leste since June 1999 are now eligible. This includes:

• ADF members and veterans
• AFP personnel
• Members involved in the Defence Cooperation Program
• Personnel who were withdrawn due to injury or medical necessity

This significantly extends eligibility beyond the original 2006–onwards criteria and recognises the full scope of Australian contribution to Timor-Leste operations since 1999.

Important Note on Issue of Medals
Neither the Australian Government nor the Timor-Leste Government will be issuing physical medals to newly eligible recipients. Veterans who are now entitled to the TLSM must obtain the medal at their own expense.

In response, and in line with my commitment to quality and historical accuracy, I will be producing a limited run of ‘original standard’ Timor-Leste Solidarity Medals. These will be:

• Manufactured to match the design, finish, and presentation standard of previously government-issued medals
• Available as full cased presentation sets
